Smallbone of Devizes celebrates its 40th anniversary with a pop up exhibition from Maddox Gallery during LDF 2018
Off-Cuts: Design, Art & Making for a Sustainable Future 15th – 23rd September 2018
Smallbone’s flagship showroom, 220 Brompton Road, South Kensington, London SW7
Founded in 1978, Smallbone of Devizes found its beginnings in the tranquil rolling hills of Wiltshire. Over the past four decades, the company has grown from one talented man with a second-hand dresser to a benchmark for international luxury with projects across the world.
To celebrate this milestone, Smallbone announces a pop-up exhibition in collaboration with Maddox Gallery and a series of workshops with premium domestic appliance manufacturer Miele and The Palace Gardeners during London Design Week 2018. ‘Off-Cuts: Design, Art & Making for a Sustainable Future’ will take place in Smallbone’s flagship showroom at 220 Brompton Road, South Kensington, London SW7.
One of the most stylish art destinations in the UK with galleries in four central London locations, Maddox Gallery was a natural partner for the project. Among the works curated by the gallery will be mixed-media pieces from leading artists, such as Damien Hirst, Mark Quinn, David Yarrow and The Connor Brothers. Bold and contemporary, the art will stand in juxtaposition to the timeless, classic beauty of Smallbone’s Original Hand Painted and Pilaster kitchens. The exhibition will be on display from 15th-23rd September 2018.
