NATURE'S ORDER

Maddox Gallery is proud to present, Nature’s Order, a beautifully curated collection of artworks encapsulating the splendours of nature, that explores the relationship between humanity and phenomena of the physical natural world.

Referencing the embodiment of this shifting relationship between humans and their natural surroundings, Nature’s Order looks at this continuing dialogue featuring works by historically iconic contemporary artists including David Hockney, Yayoi Kusama, Banksy, Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Harland Miller and David Shrigley to name a few. 

The beauty and wonder of nature has provided inspiration to artists for centuries. The dominant influence of human activity on the climate, has brought an urgency to contemporary artists depiction, and response to nature and the environment. 

Each artist in their own voice throughout their careers have continued to engage with the subject matter of nature and all it’s magnificence. In some instances when highlighting natures beauty we are faced with the intimate understanding of life and death, hinting at a more disquieting, neo-sublime. Through their works collectively, each artist explores the prevailing notions of wild and domesticated nature, as well as the impact of human intervention on the environment.
