Maddox Gallery at Art Miami

Maddox Gallery enjoyed an incredible 2017, and the last month of the year saw some of the team make an inaugural appearance at Art Miami, one of the world’s most iconic gatherings of art lovers, collectors and professionals.

We have already made a name for ourselves as one of the most stylish young contemporary art destinations in the UK, so set its ambitions on making a similar splash at Art Miami.

Our team was honoured to share some stunning contemporary artworks with a brand new audience, and bring a few names from our celebrated roster of artists to the US.

Art Miami celebrates its 28th edition

Miami’s longest running contemporary art fair, Art Miami, kicked off the debut of its 28th edition alongside sister fair CONTEXT Art Miami at a brand-new waterfront location, with its strongest VIP Preview to date.

More than 15,000 art collectors, curators, professionals, and enthusiasts attended to view and acquire blue chip and contemporary artworks, with a whirlwind of sales occurring within the first hour of opening.

Art Miami is renowned as one of the leading international contemporary and modern art fairs in the US. This time round, it hosted works from more than 140 international galleries and 961 artists, spanning 22 countries and 60 different cities.

Maddox Gallery brings its investment art to Miami

Maddox Gallery is at the forefront of the contemporary scene in London, with a reputation for exhibiting exclusive art from internationally acclaimed and emerging artists.

We were delighted to be making our debut at this year’s Art Miami, and we hope that visitors enjoyed our booth, where we shared a carefully curated selection of art from our three London-based galleries.

The Connor Brothers, David Yarrow and Bradley Theodore were all in attendance to meet visitors and represent their artwork, some even debuting previously unseen pieces.

Michael Moebius revealed his brand new portrait, Blondie Bubblegum, alongside pieces sourced from RETNA’ssuccessful solo show MARGRAVES at Maddox Gallery, Mayfair, earlier in the year.

Maddox Gallery was even featured on CBS, as they took a closer look at ‘The Wolf of Main Street,’ a piece by famed photographer David Yarrow which features an actual wolf on bar in Montana.

“To ensure he got that sharp look in his eyes the photographer tied two chicken breasts to the top of his head, it kept that wolf focused,” explained Matthew Lord, Maddox Gallery.

Maddox Gallery’s Art Miami exhibit also included European names Niclas Castello, Banksy and Harland Miller, as well as US icon Jeff Koons.

David Yarrow helps to support animal charity

In addition to our booth at Art Miami, Maddox Gallery was delighted to host an exclusive exhibition by David Yarrow in conjunction with Haute Living.

The Fontaine Ballroom of the Fontainebleau Hotel Miami displayed a selection of images taken by the world’s leading fine art photographer, who has a reputation for capturing the planet’s most remote landscapes, cultures and endangered animals.

A live auction for one of Yarrow’s photographs also raised $27,000 for animal charity Black Jaguar-White Tiger Foundation.

From Miami to Mayfair

If you are based in the UK and looking to buy emerging contemporary art that can be enjoyed in the home and as a potentially rewarding investment asset, please plan a visit to Maddox Gallery. With three galleries within central London, and expert Sotheby’s trained art consultants on hand, we’re always happy to welcome new visitors and tell them more about our incredible artists.
