Ahead of their upcoming exhibition at Maddox Gallery later this year, The Connor Brothers have released 5 hand finished prints from their latest series True Fiction, priced at £3000 each.
True Fiction follows on from the incredibly popular Pulp Fiction series, an incredibly rich body of work re-contextualizing the artworks of 1950's dime novels with new and disconcerting meanings. Throughout the series, vintage pin-up beauties, dishevelled heroes and old Hollywood starlets are juxtaposed with unexpected, witty captions such as 'I drink to make other people more interesting', dragging their subjects from the romanticised fictional past into the contemporary world.
The new series, which The Brothers have been working on since late 2019 uses real models, rather than found materials. When asked about the new series, The Brothers enthused, "The new work is a departure from Pulp Fiction as we are now working directly with models, allowing us to present a greater diversity of subjects, more reflective of the world we live in."
