Maddox represents a plethora of artists who are among the most respected and exciting names in the world of art. Taking over our Maddox Street gallery from 8th September, 'The Maddox Collection' will unite many of them under one roof for the first time. Discover what it means to be represented by Maddox from both a gallery and an artist's perspective as we introduce the roster of artists who we are proud to call family.
'The Maddox Collection', which opens its doors on 8th September, is our first group exhibition devoted to artists who are part of the Maddox family. Hand-selected by our artistic team, some of the artists have been part of the Maddox family since our earliest years, while others are new arrivals. With completely different creative styles and artistic outputs, what unites them is their unique and adventurous approach to creating Contemporary art, which aligns perfectly with the Maddox aesthetic. Together, they represent the best of the best of Maddox.
When an artist signs with Maddox as a represented artist, they enter a partnership with us that goes far beyond simply selling, promoting and exhibiting their work. Maddox’s Directors forge close relationships with all our represented artists, providing support, guidance and direction, meaning they can focus on their work and artistic development. From an artist perspective, being part of the Maddox family significantly increases their exposure and visibility, with the opportunity to showcase their works as part of group shows like 'The Maddox Collection', alongside solo exhibitions. They also get to connect with Maddox’s international network of art collectors and enthusiasts, who frequently become patrons of their work, supporting them throughout their career.
Each year the Maddox family continues to grow, with established friends like David Yarrow and The Connor Brothers, who have been with Maddox since the very beginning, joined by newly represented artists such as Will Martyr and Cooper. Carefully curated by our expert team, the Maddox family is as diverse as it is dynamic – something that we are celebrating with 'The Maddox Collection'. From the vivid colour work and familiar, relatable scenes of Cooper to The Connor Brothers’ wildly popular homages to natural history, the exhibition is an opportunity to discover the art that excites our artistic team most.
Among our talented roster of representation is Russell Young – a hugely successful artist whose works form part of celebrated private collections around the globe. From Marilyn Monroe’s beguiling gaze to the rebellious spirit of James Dean, his art is a who’s who of cultural icons that captures the essence of those who have left their indelible mark on our world.
But his art is not just about celebrity – it’s about the stories, dreams and vulnerabilities that lie beneath the surface. On show as part of 'The Maddox Collection', the diamond-dusted Marilyn Chanel – Superstar Wisteria and Bardot Thunder (Cosmic Pink) resonate with emotion and invite introspection.
Alongside 'The Maddox Collection', we are delighted to announce that we will be introducing art lovers in North-West England to Young’s work at our first pop-up in Cheshire in September. We will also be hosting a solo Russell Young show in London in October – the first time the artist has exhibited with Maddox in London after his successful debut Maddox show in Gstaad last winter.
As part of the 'The Maddox Collection', David Yarrow’s latest masterpieces will be on display on all sides of the gallery, drawing the viewer into the untamed worlds of animals in the wild. As one of the world’s most successful fine-art photographers, Yarrow’s work goes far beyond traditional wildlife photography. Infusing his images with a strong sense of emotion and storytelling, Black Panther Tales, The Rolling Stones and Wall Street reinforce Yarrow’s reputation as one of the most popular and collectable Maddox represented artists. Also coming soon, a new David Yarrow exhibition is set to open at our Westbourne Grove gallery, with his works taking centre stage in a solo show during October.
