Charlotte Rose

Charlotte Rose (British, b. 1998) is a self-taught contemporary artist whose work explores the intersection of nostalgic branding and the deceptive allure of advertising. With a background in creative writing, she merges literary themes with visual art, reimagining iconic imagery to critique consumer culture. Her vibrant paintings often incorporate familiar logos and packaging, subverted with thought-provoking text and symbolism. Rose's work has been exhibited internationally, including shows in Austin, Miami, and London. Notably, she has collaborated with brands such as Gucci and Coach, and her pieces are held in prominent private collections worldwide.

Biography

“There is a strange and unique bond between us and corporations; it feels familiar, personal, and visceral.”

Self-taught artist Charlotte Rose was born in Aberdeen in 1998, graduating in 2021 with a degree in creative writing.

Currently living and working in London, the artist’s fascination with the nostalgic branding of the late 20th century and her experience as a fashion model have led her to consider what it means to be a small cog in the consumerist machine.

Exploring the close relationship between art and literature, the artist works primarily in oil and acrylic paint on wood panels, canvas and paper.

These mixed media paintings prescribe new truths to an old illusion: each artwork is an exploration of the 'dream' sold by companies to push poisonous goods.

Throughout her work she considers how the building of culture, narrative and memories so deeply intertwined within the collective minds of millions of people is something that can only be forged over time with patience, skill and, above all else, a true understanding of the human experience.

Charlotte Rose has exhibited internationally with recent shows in Austin, Miami and London.

Her work as an artist has led to collaborations with notable brands including Gucci and Coach, and her artworks can be found in the homes of prominent art collectors globally.
