'David Yarrow: The Collection' represents a watershed moment in the British photographer’s career. The exhibition features 33 photographs, staged across three thematic acts. From hard-earned wildlife encounters in Alaska and Africa to wolves prowling saloons, Wall Street excess and dreamscapes of Ferraris and supermodels, the show is Yarrow’s boldest statement to date. The accompanying David Yarrow coffee table book, hailed as the photography book of the year, expands on this narrative, with 150 images offering an even broader retrospective of his work.
For collectors, the exhibition underlines Yarrow’s growing stature as a blue chip art investment. His small-run editions frequently sell out, with recent auction results surpassing estimates—some by more than 90%. He first came to international attention at just 20 years old when he shot Diego Maradona lifting the 1986 FIFA World Cup Final trophy, an iconic image that set him on the path to becoming one of the world’s most collected photographers. Since then, his career has taken him from the Arctic ice to the African savannah, from Wall Street boardrooms to epic sets in the desert.
Among his most celebrated works are 78 Degrees North (2017), a striking David Yarrow photo of a polar bear in Svalbard; The Wolves of Wall Street I (2019), featuring Jordan Belfort and signed by both Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese; and Unforgiven (2020), starring Cindy Crawford in a sweeping reimagining of America’s Wild West. Together, these works reveal Yarrow’s dual worlds: the instinctive pursuit of the wild and the choreographed worlds of his storytelling.

The New David Yarrow Coffee Table Book
The volume is arranged chronologically, with Yarrow’s own candid commentary woven throughout the pages. Behind-the-scenes photography offers further insight into the scale and ambition of his shoots. Described by Yarrow himself as “an honest narrative of my personal journey and the strongest body of work I have ever published”, the new book also carries a foreword by the late Robert Redford, an artist Yarrow credits as one of his great influences.
Presented as a hardcover volume in a clamshell box and weighing an impressive 15kg, The Collection is conceived as a collector’s piece—part art object, part retrospective. Each copy includes a digitally signed David Yarrow print of an unreleased black panther photograph. There is also the rare chance for readers to obtain a David Yarrow signature and personalised dedication during the exhibition—see below.
The David Yarrow Book Signing Event at Maddox Gallery
During Frieze Week, Maddox Gallery will host an exclusive private tour of the exhibition with the artist himself, followed by a David Yarrow book signing—an opportunity to talk to the artist and even request a dedication. This intimate event will give a select group of guests the chance to hear Yarrow discuss his latest works before securing a signed copy of his landmark The Collection publication.
Attendance will be strictly limited, with places allocated through a random draw one week prior. The exact date and time will be shared to those invited to attend.

Celebrity & Storytelling in David Yarrow Photography
Celebrity plays an important role in David Yarrow’s storytelling. From Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne and Alessandra Ambrosio to the footballer Erling Haaland, Yarrow works with cultural icons to heighten the narrative power of his images, transforming them into characters in his larger-than-life stories.
Cindy Crawford described her experience shooting Shotgun Wedding (2019) during a live Q&A at Maddox Gallery in 2022: “My most memorable location would have to be Montana, even though it was 30 below, in the snow, in a car, with a wolf. I thought they were trained movie wolves. I didn’t realise that’s not a thing. You can’t train wild animals! They have a very musky smell and then you’re sitting in the car and they’re like, ‘don’t move a muscle’. Then the trainer started throwing raw chicken to get the wolf to look at the camera....”
