Eligibility note: This form is for collectors, estates, advisors and private sellers submitting works by selected accepted artists. It is not intended for direct artist portfolio submissions.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
VALUATION
Yes. All submissions are handled discreetly. Ownership details, valuations, and sale intentions are not disclosed to third parties without your permission at any stage.
The initial specialist review is complimentary and carries no obligation. Commission or fee arrangements, where applicable, are discussed transparently before any sale proceeds.
Value depends on the artist, provenance, condition, authenticity documentation, rarity, medium, scale, date, edition details, and comparable recent sales. Our specialists consider all relevant factors before advising on appropriate routes to market.
CONSIGNMENT & PROCESS
We primarily operate as advisors and consignment specialists. In some cases, where commercially appropriate and by separate agreement, direct purchase may be discussed. Our specialists can advise on the most appropriate model for your artwork.
A Maddox Gallery specialist will assess the submission against artist demand, provenance, condition, and market suitability. We will be in touch if the work is suitable for further discussion. There is no obligation to proceed at any stage.
Timing varies significantly by artist, current market demand, condition, documentation, pricing, and the chosen sale route. We discuss realistic timelines as part of the initial advisory conversation.
ARTISTS & SUITABILITY
We typically consider established, modern, post-war, contemporary, and blue-chip artists. The listed artists on this page are examples. If your artist is not listed, you may still submit your artwork for specialist review.
We review all submissions carefully. Where a work may not be suitable for our current collector network, we will advise candidly and, where appropriate, suggest alternative routes to market.
COLLECTIONS & ADVISORY
Yes. We work sensitively with estates, trustees, and family representatives managing inherited collections. We can assist with valuation guidance, documentation support, and appropriate sale strategy for single works or multiple-work collections.
Yes. Timing advice is an important part of what we offer. We can provide market context, comparable sales information, and a considered view on whether the current moment is appropriate for your specific artwork — without any obligation to sell.
DOCUMENTATION & LOGISTICS
A certificate can support valuation and sale, but its absence does not prevent an initial review. Share whatever documentation you have — purchase receipts, photographs, labels, or correspondence — and we will advise on its relevance.
Ideally: artist, title, year, medium, dimensions, condition notes, images of the front and back, and any provenance or documentation. Submit what you have — you can provide additional information later if requested.
Logistics, shipping, and insurance arrangements are discussed as part of the sale process. We can coordinate specialist fine art handling through trusted providers. Specific costs and responsibilities are confirmed before any work is moved.
