Mulgil Kim: Green Melody, Blue Poem
‘Green Melody, Blue Poem’ brings together a new body of work by Mulgil Kim, in which nature becomes a quiet space for feelings to rest. Across moonlit nights and drifting skies, her paintings unfold as soft, enclosed worlds where emotion is not explained, but simply allowed to exist.
Green returns again and again, holding a sense of calm and shelter, while blue moves through the work as air and distance, carrying a trace of the past. Together, they become what she refers to as “a score without notes, a poem without words.”
“There are emotions that cannot be fully held in words. I borrow the pure form of nature to carry and convey them.” This feeling stays near, where trees stand in stillness, curtains open onto moonlight and seasons shift within a single space, each moment unfolding quietly. Nature listens, holding what cannot be said.
This exhibition brings together a new body of work in which fleeting moments pass, yet a gentle presence remains. What endures is what the artist describes as “a green melody and a single line of poetry,” a delicate warmth that lingers with you beyond the canvas.

"Rather than simply painting nature, I paint the landscape of the mind through nature.
The texture of grass touched by the wind, the sky where light lingers, and the small beings that live within it are not merely scenes, but the way I perceive and feel the world.
At times, I encounter moments that quietly move me, sometimes while travelling, other times along familiar paths. Though these moments may seem small and ordinary, they hold emotions that cannot be fully expressed in words.
In order not to lose them, I record these impressions and later revisit them, shaping them into a single scene. The resulting landscapes are worlds where reality, memory, and imagination gently overlap.
The girl in a blue dress, the animals drifting through nature, and spaces that feel both dreamlike and familiar exist not to tell a specific story, but as quiet vessels that reflect each viewer’s own emotions.
Rather than being explained, I hope my paintings can become a place to pause. A moment to breathe within the rush of time, and to reconnect with feelings that may have been forgotten.
If someone standing before the work feels a little more at ease, and begins to see the world with a softer gaze, that is enough.
Ultimately, my work seeks to become a quiet bridge between nature and people, memory and emotion. Like a scene that lingers without words, I hope to leave images that remain gently in the heart." - Mulgil Kim
