About the EXHIBITION

Maddox Gallery is excited to welcome back Mel Bochner this winter with 'Blah, Blah, Blah'.
An exhibition of text based artworks, 'Blah, Blah, Blah' will present Bochner's popular thesaurus series, which consists of lists of synonyms displayed in rainbow coloured palettes, often featuring repeated words in painterly capital letters.

Mel Bochner has worked directly with Maddox Gallery to curate a show of 24 works, 14 of which will be unveiled at Maddox Gallery's Gstaad for the first time.

Mel Bochner

Mel Bochner (American, b. 1940) is a contemporary artist whose practice is connected to Blue-Chip Text Conceptual. Working primarily in painting, prints and editions, Bochner is a leading figure of Conceptual Art and one of the first artists to use language as a visual medium. His text-based works explore the slippage between meaning and meaninglessness, transforming familiar words into bold, colour-driven paintings.
