The Connor Brothers: The Greatest Show on Earth
30 January - 20 February 2026
About the EXHIBITION
The Connor Brothers’ latest exhibition – 'The Greatest Show on Earth' – takes authentic Victorian paintings and alters them by adding their own text and imagery.
Godzilla appears in a romantic landscape, and Bruce Lee practices nunchucks in the stillness of a lake. Taken individually, The Connor Brothers’ interventions are meaningless, silly, and childish, solely designed to make each other laugh, but grouped together they almost accidentally begin to make a point – how else are we to face an increasingly disturbing and dangerous world than to laugh.
Humour has always been a weapon against tyranny, and a coping mechanism through trauma, and this is the approach The Connor Brothers have taken in over a decade of work and activism. 'The Greatest Show on Earth' continues on this path whilst reminding us that although art often takes itself seriously, laughter should not be overlooked as one of the key human emotions.
The Connor Brothers don’t take themselves too seriously, and we shouldn’t either.
