About Jordy Kerwick

Taking inspiration from the way in which writers craft their narratives, Australia’s Jordy Kerwick has always been a fan of storytelling. His work leans into the traditions of folklore, which relies on distinctive characters and symbolism to tell tales of good and evil, life and death, and fear and bravery.

A self-taught painter, Jordy Kerwick’s uniquely colourful paintings have taken the art world by storm. Recently hailed as Artsy’s second most in-demand artist worldwide, his art encourages audiences to step back in time, into a world steeped in mythology.

Creating compelling narratives that bring audiences together in a collective ancestral memory, Kerwick’s style combines historical references with contemporary elements. Deconstructing figurative subjects into flat, two-dimensional compositions of vibrant colours and patterns, wolves, tigers, cobras, bears, horses, unicorns and human figures all make an appearance in his works, often blended to create zoomorphic hybrids.
