About The Connor Brothers

The Connor Brothers is the pseudonym of British artists James Golding and Mike Snelle.

Rising to prominence in 2012, the duo maintained anonymity for several years through a fictional biography until their identities were revealed in 2014 by Mick Brown in The Telegraph.

Now in their second decade, they continue to challenge and divide audiences with boundary-pushing contemporary art. Alongside their artwork, they are known for activism and playful hoaxes.

In 2014 they created the fictional museum The Hanbury Collection, blurring truth and fiction in ways that reflect today’s post-truth, fake-news culture. They have been prominent voices on the refugee crisis, working in the Jungle camp in Calais, launching the Refuchic billboard campaign, and staging a refugee-themed performance at Banksy’s Dismaland in collaboration with Pussy Riot. They also work with The Big Issue and have served as ambassadors for The Teenage Cancer Trust.

The Connor Brothers have exhibited worldwide, with works held in major public and private collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Penguin Collection, and the Koc and Niarchos collections.
