WINTER TALE

23 November - 31 December 2023
Westbourne Grove
From the early years of art, books and literature have been depicted and have always held a certain symbolic status. From religious to scientific, books are used as status markers and as markers of evolution itself. Books become symbols of our existence, capturing our lives, our thoughts, our essence, as merely ink on paper.

In this exhibition, works on canvas and sculptures explore the theme of literature and the meaning it holds in our lives. The show centres around the “classics”. Harland Miller makes witty large-scale book covers and Coco Davez depicts loveable classic characters depicted in her works on canvas. Artists explore the theme through their own interpretations – be that the mechanism with which text is created, or a cartoon character that has been around for decades.

Please note our London Galleries close on 23rd December at 6pm and reopen on the 3rd Janauary 2024.
