Internationally known for her ‘Faceless’ paintings of idols and icons, Coco Dávez is one of the great 21st-century inheritors of the Pop Art tradition. The alter ego of Spanish Contemporary artist Valeria Palmeiro, her Neo-Pop sensibility, paired with an intuitive understanding of colour, come together in a visually arresting style that is sharp in detail, with her paintings blending rich, contrasting hues with dark shadows.

An artist, illustrator, photographer and creative director who cites Pablo Picasso as her biggest inspiration, Dávez is completely self-taught. She began painting aged 21, with her vibrant, joyful works immediately catching the attention of galleries and publishers after the artist released them on social media. A flurry of requests for collaborations from luxury brands followed, including Chanel, Dior, Prada, Vogue and Loewe.

Dávez has exhibited globally, from Paris to Queensland. Making her debut with Maddox Gallery in 2019 with an exhibition of ‘Faceless’ portraits featuring famous figures in popular culture, from Amy Winehouse to Frida Kahlo, her second solo show, ‘Partners in Time’, in spring 2023 presented pairs of iconic real-life and fictional couples, including Andy Warhol and fellow artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.
