Shepherd Market, often referred to as ‘Mayfair’s original village’, boasts an array of creative boutiques, gourmet restaurants, and impressive Victorian pubs which currently populate its charming 18th century square and piazza. It is also home to Maddox Gallery Editions, which is conveniently located opposite at 5 Shepherd Street.
Maddox Gallery, Shepherd Market opens at 8 Shepherd Street with a mixed show. The inaugural exhibition will feature artwork by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Richard Hambleton, Mr Brainwash, David Yarrow, Harland Miller and The Connor Brothers.
Also located in Shepherd Market, Maddox Editions launches on Shepherd Street and will focus entirely on limited editions from the Maddox Gallery roster of artists including The Connor Brothers, Dan Baldwin and hyperrealist painter, Mike Dargas.
Launched in Mayfair in December 2015 the Maddox Gallery portfolio has rapidly expanded to include three Mayfair locations in Maddox Street and Shepherd Market, a 4000 square foot gallery on Westbourne Grove and a gallery housed in a traditional Alpine chalet in the ski resort of Gstaad.
In just three years the gallery has established itself as a highlight of the London art scene, with a dynamic programme of exhibitions from artists including David Yarrow, RETNA, Bradley Theodore, Mr Brainwash and The Connor Brothers.
Maddox Gallery Creative Director Jay Rutland comments, “When we launched the business in 2015 we knew there was a definitely an audience who loved art and wanted to enjoy it and invest in it but perhaps felt intimidated by the established galleries, institutions and auction houses. Maddox Gallery has always tried to offer a warm and welcoming environment for both aspiring and established collectors. The launch of Maddox Editions offers a more accessible price point for new buyers wishing to start their collections.”
